What is beauty? Is it standard? Is there an objective beauty? Is beauty from the inside? Is it anatomical?
Are there norms of beauty that we should satisfy or is everything in the eye of the beholder?
Saying that the appearances don't matter is, i think, a lie. At least at the first contact between 2 persons. But this first impression, even though its importance is often boasted, fades away with time.
First impressions are only an chance, an opening to examine the other person more carefully. And that's when appearances start loosing ground to another, more complex beauty.
And that beauty depends only on the way we look at it.
The same person can be "pretty" or "ugly" depending on how we look on him/her.
A "hot" girl might become so much uglier after a couple of dates and a "not-so-hot" girl can become oh-so-much prettier after the same couple of dates. And that's not only because of what that person thinks, or her I.Q. Its the habits, the gestures, the body language, the stare, the gaze and all the other small details that make us who we are, that makes us a tiny bit different than the rest. Its also how that person looks at herself and how he/she looks back at us. It's how we feel about the person as much as how that person makes us feel about ourselves. A pretty person might only be pretty because he/she makes us feel that way.
Beauty is a whole; a mix of feelings, ideas, colors, shapes and tastes.
No fashion show nor I.Q tests can predict or change our opinion of a lasting beauty.
Beauty is our opinion of a person.
